Reaching the Mediterranean - September 18

Today we left Villeneuve-Les-Beziers after a leisurely time walking around town. First stop as always is the boulangerie for fresh croissants, pain de raisin and baguette. We brought back breakfast goodies for our boat neighbors, 2 couples from Scotland who are of mixed opinions about today's vote.

The town square had a morning market, with a truck offering fresh meat selections and another offering cow, sheep and goat cheeses. A fresh produce vendor completed the offerings.

The landscape changed as we traveled east, and approached the Mediterranean. We passed a section of the canal with many types of barges taking up what looked like full-time residence.

One even had a small swimming pool on deck!

And the lock at Portiragnes was the last lock of our trip - we stopped and walked around town before heading on.

We moored at Port Cassafieres and walked to the Mediterranean.

Our last night on the boat included a great home cooked meal - grilled, marinated chicken from Maureen, fresh green salad from Mary, and wonderful scalloped potatoes via Jan courtesy of the charcuterie from this morning's shopping; enjoyed by all.
