Today we took a day trip to visit Claude Monet's home/studio/garden located at Giverny, about an hour's train ride from Paris. It was a multi-modal day - first taking the metro to the Ste. Lazare Station to catch a mainline train, and then a shuttle bus to our final location.
Monsieur Monet greeted us, as he does all visitors to his home. He lived here from 1883 to 1926, in a home large enough for a family with 8 children.
The Jardin d'Eau (Water Garden) and the inspiration of Monet's famous water lily series. While this photo doesn't show it, his garden has actually been bisected by a road so you actually have to walk under the roadway to get to the pond area of the garden.
The flowers in the garden are lovely, even now at the beginning of October; plenty of nasturtiums, dahlias, hollyhocks, and different kinds of sunflowers.
We continue to enjoy amazing weather with sun and temps in the mid 70's.
